A ‘hey neighbor', a tight handshake, a broad smile, and a warm hug are all striking gestures of Gaúcho hospitality in the city of São Francisco de Paula, or ‘São Chico' as it is affectionately known. Drinking a chimarrão while sitting around a traditional ground fire, with the cuia (drinking gourd) passing from hand to hand in homes displaying the typical architecture are characteristics of friendship and goodwill much appreciated by the city's community.
